In recent years, the Social Enterprise movement within Atlantic Canada has been gaining a great deal of momentum. This momentum is beginning to positively impact many individuals within our community. To ensure that positive changes continue, and that all individuals have access to the different organizations that hold a function within the ecosystem, we have created this website.
Through this website, we explore different social enterprises within the region, organizations that are championing the movement, educational opportunities for both individuals in post-secondary education and members of the community, various accelerator programs, funding opportunities and the social enterprise support network. The term ‘social enterprise’ includes a spectrum of definitions, and although we may not have covered every organization within this spectrum, we have covered those which we feel play an imperative role within the social enterprise ecosystem.
It is important to note that this website is current up until August of 2015. If changes are made in the ecosystem afterwards, they will not be identified within this version of the Maritime Region Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem but will be added to the next revision of this website. If there are any comments, additions or changes you feel are necessary, please let us know at innovate@unb.ca.
